Large-scale Moscow's Strikes Cut Power In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while local people in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and encountered disruption to drinking water, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was killed in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and enforcing penalties," was stated in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 missiles attacked the country's power systems, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the assaults on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the city experienced heavy assaults throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The assaults come after evenings of bombing campaigns in the territory, sections of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to identify.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the country's energy grid, with assaults already disrupting gas facilities.

Officials stated technical personnel and government agencies were anticipating additional strikes.
